IPL 2023 Day 32

LSG v RCB

Hello and welcome to today’s newsletter.

What a run fest Sunday it was, all 4 teams across 2 games scored 200+, and both teams playing 2nd chased down 200+ score successfully.

A big shout out to Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was magnificent yesterday and scored his maidan hundred. Some quick stats from his century:

Scored 124 runs at strike rate of 200, and 112 runs out of boundaries (16 fours and 8 sixes) so more than 90% runs by boundaries.

What an amazing knock, unfortunately ended up on the losing side but still he was magical.

Last Matches Summary

Match 41 - Chennai Super Kings vs Punjab Kings

Punjab managed to sneak into Chennai fortress. It was a brilliant match, tilted one way or another and at one point was looking quite in favour of Chennai but Livingstone, Curran, Jitesh and Raza in the end pulled off a great chase.

Earlier, Conway was wonderful, and CSK posted 200 on the board, that was above par score for Chennai pitch but Punjab always being unpredictable, ended up on winning side this time.

Brief Score: Punjab Kings 201/6 (Prabhsimran 42, Livingstone 40; Rahul Chahar 1/35) beat Chennai Super Kings 200/4 (Conway 92*, Ruturaj 37; Deshpande 3/49) by 4 wickets

Player of the Match: Devon Conway

Match 42 - Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals

You would feel bad for Jaiswal being on losing side after such an amazing knock. But Mumbai did manage to chase down 212 with 3 balls to spare, all credit to SKY and David’s brilliant knocks, they pulled off a famous chase.

For Jaiswal’s innings, I am lost for words. It was completely one man show, it was him against 11 Mumbai players, the way he played, maintained pace throughout the inning even though wickets kept falling at the other end. Scored more than 90% runs by boundaries. What a delight it was to watch him play.

Brief Score: Mumbai Indians 214/4 (SKY 55, Tim David 45*; Ashwin 2/27) beat Rajasthan Royals 212/7 (Jaiswal 124, Buttler 18; Arshad Khan 3/39) by 6 wickets

Player of the Match: Yashasvi Jaiswal

A Picture

Although Jaiswal had a decent last year but this year feels like he has ARRIVED. His game and power has notched up and is at different level. Really looking forward to him opening up for India soon 😍

A fun fact

The shortest Test match in history was between England and Australia in 1930, which lasted for just 50.2 overs (or 220 minutes).
