IPL 2023 Day 3

Hello and welcome to today’s newsletter. Happy Sunday.

Sunday always reminds me of Rajnikant’s dialogue in Chaalbaaz movie - “Aaj to sunday hai, din me daru peene ka day hai 😀 ”

Hope you have a wonderful sunday with cricket and some drinks (if you like).

Again, slightly longer edition today due to double matches.

Today’s Match Preview

Match 4 - Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals

A home game for SRH and it’s going to be pace friendly pitch if we go by the numbers of past few years. Fast bowlers have better averages and economy rate in IPL matches in Hyderabad stadium than any other IPL hosting stadium in India.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Probable XI: 1 Abhishek Sharma, 2 Mayank Agarwal, 3 Rahul Tripathi, 4 Harry Brook, 5 Glenn Phillips (wk), 6 Abdul Samad, 7 Washington Sundar, 8 Akeal Hosein, 9 Bhuvneshwar Kumar (capt), 10 Umran Malik, 11 T Natarajan

Rajasthan Royals Probable XI: 1 Jos Buttler (wk), 2 Yashasvi Jaiswal, 3 Devdutt Padikkal, 4 Sanju Samson (capt), 5 Shimron Hetmyer, 6 Riyan Parag, 7 Akash Vasisht, 8 Jason Holder, 9 R Ashwin, 10 Trent Boult, 11 Yuzvendra Chahal

Match 5 - Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians had the worst campaign last year as they finished at the bottom of the points table but they have improved their batting unit by buying Cameroon Green and bowling unit by getting Jofra Archer. However a dream combo of Jusprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer will have to wait for another year (hopefully) as Bumrah is out of the tournament.

RCB Probable XI: 1 Faf du Plessis (capt), 2 Virat Kohli, 3 Mahipal Lomror, 4 Glenn Maxwell, 5 Michael Bracewell, 6 Dinesh Karthik (wk), 7 Shahbaz Ahmed, 8 Harshal Patel, 9 Akash Deep, 10 Reece Topley, 11 Mohammed Siraj

MI Probable XI: 1 Rohit Sharma (capt), 2 Ishan Kishan (wk), 3 Suryakumar Yadav, 4 Tilak Varma, 5 Tim David, 6 Cameron Green, 7 Ramandeep Singh, 8 Jofra Archer, 9 Hrithik Shokeen, 10 Sandeep Warrier, 11 Jason Behrendorff

A fun fact

The fastest delivery ever bowled in cricket is 161.3 km/h (100.1 mph), by Shoaib Akhtar of Pakistan against New Zealand in 2002.

This is an incredible feat of speed, and it shows the level of athleticism and skill that is required to bowl a cricket ball at such a high speed. It also shows cricket is a game that can be enjoyed for moments of excitement.
